"Molten Magic" is a three day workshop.

Day one will cover safety, studio setup, equipment. Each student will then assemble and kiln fuse a component to be used in class on day two. This exercise helps to develop a sense of color, depth and light transmission. I will then demonstrate the making of a pinwheel paperweight followed by each student creating and making their own. Included will be design techniques such as inserting air bubbles and twists.

Day two starts off with a demonstration of making twisted cane. Each student will then select their own types and colors of glass for making their own cane. Next, we will be making a paperweight from the fused component made on the day one.

Day three begins with making glass flowers and a marble making demonstration. The rest of the day is yours to practice learned techniques and make more paperweights!!! It's an all action day!

Each student will make a minimum of one paperweight per day.

If your looking to get started or need a refresher course in the basics of glass beadmaking this fully hands on, one day class is designed for you! The class begins with instruction in safety issues, studio setup, suppliers and understanding the equipment involved. The next part of the class is geared toward the teaching of good basic technical skills such as applying molten glass to a mandrel and maintaining a good shape. Finally, we will work on adding color and design elements to our beads. All materials are provided and each student will be working with a oxygen/propane Minor Bench Burner. Students can expect to make 10 to 20 beads depending upon their own skill level.
