Making a Paperweight

Clockwise from upper left corner

#1 - Preheating Bullseye Rodz and dichroic coated Bullseye clear strips.

#2 - Taking first gather of molten glass (Bullseye 1501 clear cullet) from electric crucible kiln.

#3 - Marvering (shaping) first molten gather.

#4 - Rolling up Bullseye Rodz to be followed by rolling up dichroic coated clear strips (not shown).

#5 - Cutting off end of paperweight to pull colors to a point.

#6 - Stamping end on the bubble plate to create air bubble pattern on end of paperweight.

#7 - Air bubble pattern before final clear gather.

#8 - Final clear gather, air bubbles difficult to see.

#9 - Top of paperweight clearly showing air bubbles.

#10 - Paperweight prior to being knocked off of punty rod.

#11 - Fire polishing punty scar on bottom of paperweight.

#12 - Finished paperweight!
